About American Eagle Communities

Little Rock Family Housing is part of American Eagle Communities, a company formed to pursue partnerships with the military services to finance, create, design, develop, construct, manage, operate, and maintain military residential communities throughout the nation.

In 1996, Congress enacted the Military Housing Privatization Initiative (MHPI) as part of a growing desire to better address the needs of American servicemen and women and their families. The initiative was designed to remedy the problem of deteriorated military-owned housing and a lack of appropriate private housing. In addition to the immediate benefit of providing worthy living standards for military personnel, these efforts were initiated to provide broad benefit in terms of improved retention and a subsequent higher state of readiness of U.S. Armed Forces. Housing was privatized at Little Rock AFB on August 1, 2004 when Little Rock Family Housing assumed ownership.
