Mosaic is the art of assemblage. You can use different materials such as ceramic tiles, pieces of glass or earthenware.

Mosaic Table

The few steps to an ordinary table a real table decoration

  1. Nail around the table of the thin slats which extend approximately 8 mm above. Make sure the bevel angle of struts.
  2. Choose the tiles you’ll stick it on the table. The ideal is to respect a code of colours. For example, choose tiles in shades of “land” (chocolate, beige, white  …).
  3. Using a hammer, cut these tiles into small pieces of irregular size. If you make a specific reason, your tiles should be of size and shape identical. For this you need to equip a pair of mosaic (also called Japanese clip) or Flounder (clip Tiling).
  4. Apply glue to tile ordinary quarter of the table surface, using a trowel. There are mortar or silicone adhesives.
  5. Begin your puzzle! Have fun at different paste tiles side by side without leaving too much space between them.

Courage is almost over!

  1. A good idea is to add decoration, here and there, a few small pieces of mirror. Depending on your fancy, you can also add shells.
  2. Repeat the whole table, quarter by quarter.
  3. Let dry several hours (minimum two).
  4. Take time to sink a stone seal. Help yourself to a small scraper, as you would for a regular tile.
  5. Once the seal dry, rub with paper towels, each small tile one by one, to restore its brilliance.
  6. Finally, paint the rest of the table in a colour of your tiles. Two coats may be necessary.

We present a method of assembling random. But it is obvious that you can make a drawing, pattern, regular repetition. To do this, draw a template first.

This technique can also be applied to any other piece of decoration, as a framework, a pot, a plate, a candle or a trivet.
